St Abbs Lifeboat will find themselves with an extra £2,100 due to the hard work and dedication of the club members, supporters and friends of Robin Hood Dive Club.
Much of the total has come from personal donations as members and friends dug deep into their pockets to support this worthy cause. Further funds were raised from a car boot sale at Otley and the latest event, a bonfire night Chilli Cook Out held at the Black Bull pub in Kirkgate, Birstall. Liz & Tim ran the catering wagon whilst Barry & Johny were selling all sorts of glowing & flashing objects on a night when the rain threatened but families were out in their hundreds to watch the firework displays.
The St Abbs Lifeboat just over the border in Scotland on the east coast was removed by the RNLI in September following a review of their operations. This area is a watersports paradise and each weekend will see around 100 dedicated divers exploring the reefs and gullies of the Voluntary Marine Reserve. In addition the area is frequented by walkers, birdwatchers, fishermen and kayakers. It is hoped that a new, Independent Lifeboat can be funded for the area so every penny counts.
